Ryan Carlson has been named the Henry-Senachwine High School November Student of the month. Ryan is the son of Gary and Rita Carlson. Ryan was nominated and selected by the faculty and staff from a group of students.

Ryan is a senior here at HSHS and is very involved in the school and student
life. Ryan has been a High Honor Roll student during high school and is a National Honor Society member. Ryan is the HSHS DAR Award winner and has received the following awards through the Midland FFA: Greenhand Degree, Chapter Degree, Leadership, Scholarship, and State Farmer. He is also a member of the National FFA Midland Meats & Technology Team which placed 10th in the nation this past October. 

Ryan is the Class of 2025 Treasurer and has served as a Student Council Representative for four years. He has also participated in: Concert/Pep Band, two years; Fellowship of Christian Athletes, one year; Mallard Athletic Club, one year; National FFA Organization, four years; and Robotics. Ryan has played Basketball for two years and Baseball for three years. 

Outside of school, Ryan is active with the following groups: Boy Scouts, 4-H Henry Guys & Gals, Illinois Simmental Association, American Simmental Association, Illinois Beef Association, and the Henry Christian Church. He shows Simmental Cattle competitively locally and nationally.

After high school, Ryan plans to attend college to pursue a degree in Agriculture and Animal Sciences. He will continue with a Meats Evaluation Team and Livestock Judging. While in college, Ryan would like the chance to travel to see how agriculture varies globally. 

Ryan will be recognized on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at the school board meeting. He will be presented with an engraved pen set from the Henry-Senachwine Education Association and a personalized plaque from the district designating him as "Student of the Month." In addition, he will receive a $25.00 gift certificate from Heartland Bank in Henry and a $25.00 gift card from MidAmerica National Bank in Henry.
