Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
I hope this message finds you well and that you have had a restful and enjoyable summer. As we prepare to welcome you back for another exciting school year at Henry-Senachwine High School, I would like to share a couple of important updates and changes that will be in effect for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Grading Periods:
In our ongoing efforts to enhance academic performance and provide timely feedback, we have made adjustments to our grading periods. This year, we will use semester-based grading periods, but with a renewed focus on continuous assessment and feedback. This system aims to:
Provide structured and consistent evaluation of student progress.
Allow for timely identification/support for students who may need additional help.
Enhance communication between teachers, students, and parents.
The semester grading periods will be as follows:
First Semester: August 21st - December 20th
Second Semester: January 6th - May 30th

Cell Phone Policy Enforcement:
To maintain a focused and productive learning environment, we will be enforcing the cell phone policy. The policy can be found on page 22 of the Student and Athletic Handbook https://5il.co/2rfko . While we understand that cell phones are an integral part of our daily lives, their use during instructional time can be disruptive. Therefore:
Cell phones must be kept-powered-off and out-of-sight (this includes earbuds and ipods).
Cell phone use will not be allowed in hallways, bathrooms, locker rooms, or Study Hall (this includes earbuds and ipods).
Cell phone use will only be permitted during Advisory and lunch.
We believe these changes will contribute positively to our school environment and enhance the overall educational experience for our students.
As always, we are committed to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive. We look forward to working together with you to make this school year successful and memorable.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your continued support.
