Henry-Senachwine School District issues students with one Chromebook for educational use. The use of this school issued Chromebook comes with user responsibility. Improper use could result in a Chromebook suspension, financial responsibility for the device, or other school enacted consequences. Please note the following:
Handle Chromebooks with care
Carry it in a case or with both hands
Avoid throwing or dropping it.
Avoid excessive heat or cold.
Avoid piling books on top of it
Make sure that nothing is between the keyboard and screen when closing it.
Keep it clean and only using approved cleaners
Avoid eating and drinking around it.
Not altering the Chromebook with paint or etchings.
Use care when inserting charger cords or other external devices.
Use the Chromebook responsibly
Bring it back to school each day fully charged and ready for learning.
Do not change user settings without specific instructions from a teacher
Use the Chromebook exclusively for designated school work,
Be courteous and respectful when communicating with others online.
Follow all copyright laws including text, images, apps, music, and videos.
Use the Chromebook safely
Do not share personal information online unless specifically requested by a teacher
Do not share account passwords with others unless requested by a teacher or administrator.
Do not take photos or videos of any persons without permission from a teacher and consent of those involved.
Immediately report any problem or issue with the assigned Chromebook to a teacher or other designated person.
Chromebook Damage, Repairs, and Costs
If the Chromebook is accidentally damaged, the first incident will be repaired by the District at no cost to the student or family. Subsequent damage to the Chromebook after the first documented incident will result in the student being charged 100% of the repair cost.
The building principal, technology director, or designee will determine if damages were due to negligence or accidental.
The administration will review all damages determined to be from negligence and the associated costs of repair/replacement. Administration will also deterime whether or not the student has continued privilege of taking the Chromebook to and from school.
The District will not be obligated to replace a student Chromebook in the case of intentional damage, negligence, or repeated accidents.
If a student’s Chromebook is stolen, they must notify the office and file a police report.
