Wednesday, August 18th is the First Day Of School! Classes begin at 8:25 a.m. (unless students have ZERO Hour) and dismiss at 3:13 p.m. Masks are required and must worn. Don't forget, Orientation for the Class of 2025 students and parents is TONIGHT, August 17th at 5:00 p.m. in the HSHS Auditorium. Please contact the HSHS Office with any questions.

Henry-Senachwine High School has a Cafeteria position available (Cafeteria Tech) for the 2021-2022 school year. Work hours would be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please email a letter of interest to Laurie Carroll, Food Service Director at lcarroll@hscud5.org by Friday August 20, 2021.

All student breakfasts and lunches will be free this school year, per the Illinois State Board of Education.

Updated Mask Guidance: Per the Governor’s Executive Order, effective immediately, masks are required to be worn indoors by all teachers, staff, students, visitors in all PK-12 schools, regardless of vaccination status. As a result, masks are required when indoors in any Henry-Senachwine School District building. This mask requirement also extends to indoor athletic events, practices, open gyms, weightlifting, etc.

HSCUD #5 is doing some storage clean-up and is having a rummage sale on Monday, July 26 and Wednesday, July 28 from 8 a.m. - 1p.m. in the HSGS/JH parking lot (near the white buildings by the playground). Older & used Items for sale include student desks, chairs, a variety of tables/desks, carts, cabinets, white boards, and other miscellaneous items. If interested, feel free to stop by to pick through some of the items. Payment for the items will be by donation

As a reminder, the first day students will return to school after spring break is Monday, April 5th. Spring break is scheduled from March 29 - April 2. Henry-Senachwine Schools will continue with in-person learning the week following spring break.

NOW SECTIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!!!! Congratulations to our 7th Grade Volleyball Team who are now the Sectional Champions after their win over Peoria St. Philomena's last night. The girls struggled back from a challenging start in the first game and pulled through to victory, continuing on to win the second game. Thank you to all the fans, families, and coaches Anderson and Krebs, for ensuring the girls had a great season Thank you also to those who participated in the celebratory parade.

Regional Champions - 7th Grade Volleyball Athletes Last Thursday, our valiant Cardinals travelled to Kewanee to do battle with the Wethersfield Geese. The Geese won the first game and HSGS/JH won the second. During most of the third game, our Cardinals trailed the Geese but they dug deep and clawed their way to victory. The tenterhook game ended with a score of 26 to 24. It was thrilling and nerve-racking. Congratulations to our Champions. This week, on Wednesday, March 17th, the 7th graders play Peoria St. Philomena at 4:30 p.m. in the Sectionals. Check out our District website to click on the link and watch our athletes play.

A message from Henry-Senachwine Schools: Due to the weather, we will use a remote learning day tomorrow, Tuesday, February 16, 2021. There will be no in-person school. At HSHS: Students will log into Google Classroom for their Red Day Classes. The high school will be sending out a schedule for the day (Period 1-4), shortly. At HSGS/JH: Students should check in via Clever/Teacherease to record their attendance between 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Students should log into Google Classroom for their assignments. Teachers will be available from 8:30 am to 1:30 p.m. Status of athletic and extracurricular events will be determined later in the day.

Teachers will be available from 8:30 am to 1:30 p.m. Students who do not have access to the internet can complete their paper packet. If you do not have a paper packet, students will have a week to complete the online assignments. Status of athletic and extracurricular events will be determined later in the day.

A message from Henry-Senachwine Schools: Due to the weather, Henry-Senachwine Schools will be dismissing early today (Feb. 4) at 12:00 p.m. Afternoon Pre-K and Kindergarten classes are cancelled. All after school practices and events are cancelled for today, including the HSHS home girls’ basketball game tonight. Thank you.
