Dear Henry-Senachwine Parents/Guardians:
We have seen a significant increase in student absences due to influenza- like illness. We want to keep your child as well as possible and need everyone’s help to keep the school environment as healthy as possible.
Influenza is a contagious respiratory illness and can cause mild to severe illness. Symptoms can include: fever, cough, sore throat, runny/stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headache, fatigue, diarrhea and vomiting.
To keep illness from spreading, we ask that you keep your child home when they are sick. If your child has a temperature above 100 degrees, has an uncontrollable cough that is disruptive to their learning, or has vomiting or diarrhea, please do not send them to school and seek medical evaluation as needed.
After an illness they can return to school after they have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever- reducing medication, have been without diarrhea or vomiting for 24 hours and their cough is improving.
Please ask your child to wash their hands frequently at home and school and to avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth. Please talk with them about appropriate ways to cough or sneeze (into their elbow).
Thank you for your help in keeping our students healthy.
