Henry-Senachwine School District #5 - Master Facility Planning - Update

At the August 21st Henry-Senachwine CUSD #5 Board of Education meeting, representatives from BCA Architects and Midwest Construction Professionals were present to review the status and timelines associated with the District’s master facility plan and the design development phase of the proposed high school addition. At the meeting, the Board of Education authorized entering into an agreement with BCA architects to proceed with the design and development phase of the proposed high school addition. By doing so, the architect group is able to make firm construction material decisions in preparation of developing bid specifications for the high school addition project. Also, timelines for financing, bidding and completing a new high school addition would remain on schedule to allow for project completion at the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

A representative from Bernardi Securities met with property taxpayers individually on August 10th and 20th to provide an estimate of the property tax increase associated with funding project costs and the high school addition. On those dates, building tours of Henry-Senachwine High School were also available to those interested. Additional building tours of Henry-Senachwine High School will be scheduled in the future for those interested in viewing the current conditions of the high school.

The District will continue to provide updates on its master facility planning on its website at www.hscud5.org, under tab ‘Master Facility Planning”. The Henry-Senachwine Board of Education will continue to meet monthly and welcomes public attendance at the meetings.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael Miller
Superintendent
