Pencil and Paper

Dear Henry-Senachwine Families:

As we near the start of school next week, I am writing to provide you with an update on the HVAC project at Henry-Senachwine Grade & Junior High School and the possible use of early heat release days. There will be continued HVAC project work being conducted at HSGS/JH. This project work will not interfere with the start of school. School will begin on schedule this year, with teacher institute days occurring on Monday, August 19, and Tuesday, August 20. The first day of school for students is Wednesday, August 21st.

Progress continues to be made on the second and final phase of the HVAC project at HSGS/JH. It is anticipated that cool air will begin to be introduced into the building starting on Monday, August 26th. However, there will still be time needed to troubleshoot issues, work on technical components, configure controls, and fully condition the building ensuring that cooler temperatures are maintained throughout the facility. In the event temperatures get too hot at HSHS and at HSGS/JH, while the final phase of HVAC work is being completed, the District will utilize early heat releases. Once the air conditioning at the HSGS/JH becomes fully operational, the District will utilize early heat releases for HSHS students and staff only, as HSHS does not have building-wide air conditioning.

The District will keep you informed when such early heat releases will occur. As has been done in the past, you will be notified via the District text alert system, email, and the information will be posted on the District website.

I am looking forward to the start of another school year. As always, I thank you for your continued support of our schools.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael Miller
Superintendent
